With Coachella Weekend One in the rear view, it’s clear that the Indio, California–bound are quietly redefining the festival aesthetic. Though flower crowns and glitter still freckled the jam-packed desert venue, this year’s standout moments came courtesy of natural hair textures, sculpted festival-ready bodies, and retro accessories that skewed more cool than whimsical.
Case in point: Imaan Hammam saw the sets through rose-colored glasses, her trademark curls bound in a topknot marked by a crown of flyaways. SZA’s signature mane took on an ’80s vibe when worn with a high-cut leotard and white Converse high tops, while Cipriana Quann kept her hair off her face with the help of a discreet black headband and heart-shaped shades.
Coachella’s infamous pool party culture provided model Aline Weber with an Instagrammable moment: She casually exited the waters in the style of Phoebe Cates in Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Elsewhere, Melissa Forde (aka MDollas) showed off toned limbs amidst a backdrop of cerulean, while constant sidekick Rihanna flashed her skin through a glittering bodystocking of Gucci sparkles.
